Coal-Mining Contributions in the States by Sue

The nation's coal-mining industry, facing scrutiny for the high
number of fatal accidents so far this year, has long sought the
ear of the officials at the state level. The industry has given
at least $8.57 million to political candidates and party
committees over a six-year period, concentrating its
contributions in many of the states rich in coal.
